My condensate pipes are frozen!

Please note that as the cold/freezing temperatures are upon us, it is extremely common for the condensate pipes to freeze when the temperature drops below zero. Your boiler will then cut out as a safety precaution. If you are experiencing problems with your central heating, before calling out a gas engineer, creating unwanted call out charges, please check that the condensate pipe is not frozen first.

To clear – pour hot water (not boiling water) over the pipe and this should hopefully then allow your boiler to reset.

Prevention – you can prevent from freezing by insulating the pipes or by keeping the heating on a constant low setting when it is very cold.

Any problems please feel free to contact me on 01909 470402.
